Milan Fashion Week AW19 Recap Day 3

Ferragamo

Ferragamo showed its commitment to its craft in the luxury stitching of its leather shoes and statement coats and outerwear. Being a heritage brand, its important for the designer to create luxury pieces in their traditional Ferragamo silhouettes using high-quality tailoring and materials. This collection showed off its distinctive artistry with beautiful gowns, jumpsuits, and suits made solely of leather.

Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli’s collection featured an oceanic palette with tropical fish colored zebra stripes on smooth silk dresses. The colors progressed from bright yellows to a deep bluish purple. Flecks of gold and a luminous black sparkled on turtle neck knit dresses like the scales of the animal life in the coral reefs of the Maldives. Cavalli’s studded jacquard mini-dresses embroidered evening gowns will be the talk of the town next autumn. The notes of this season read, “Embracing, celebrating, evolving, it asserts the codes of the house: vibrant colour, a distinct print language, an artisanal touch. Alongside universal ideas of status, allure, beauty and confidence.”

Missoni

Angela Missoni's declared that, "Everything is knit, even if it looks like it isn't," in re of her autumn/winter 2019 collection. Both the men and women's collections included oversized knitted sweaters and trousers in mustard yellow, salmon pink, fresh lavender block patterns. Stripes and checker blocks in the primary colors made the tunics and wraps look like modern art painting. The tailoring was masculine yet fluid creating grand, billowing shapes as the models strutted down the runway. Indonesian ikat prints and tie-dyed weaving textiles added a graphic appeal to the pieces. It was truly a remarkable collection.

Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani's "Rhapsody in Blue" collection was dark, polished, and powerful this year. Boldly playing with textures and lengths, lots of velvet and suede pantsuits took on new, evolving forms on the catwalk. The statement detail on jacket and trousers set was the star of the show adding edgy elegance with layered blue embellishments. Metallic blue bombers paired with light trousers were the perfect sporty touch to the business styled collection. Armani's defined structured suits and women's blouses in smokey shades of blues and grey will definitely be Wall Street staples next season.
