Christian Dior AW19

Creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri created a collection revolving around sisterhood and the “feminist victory over patriarchy.” The first look took on a classic 1950s Dior silhouette with an ankle length, pleated grey skirt and a t-shirt with the words ‘Sisterhood is Global’ fixed on the front. Bold looks inspired by Britian’s Teddy Girls took the runway showing off the heritage of the brand with a contemporary twist. There were juniper & red plaid skirts, business grey Edwardian styled jackets, and jaw-dropping sartorial embellishments.

This collection revealed looks of lavish couture with a bit of edge. A moto jacket was paired with a canary yellow tulle dress, red and black striped knits with thick leather belts, faded denim romper dresses, and black and white checker board prints coupled with sequined handbags.

The show closed with a series of black gowns with elegant accents around the bodice or skirt. Embroidered tulle skirts with ornately stitched wildflowers and 3-dimensional candy colored petals looked breathtaking as they drifted down the isle. The most classic fabrics of sartorial tradition graced Dior’s runway this season and we were beyond impressed.
