Valentino Fall Winter 2021
Valentino Fall Winter 2021
Pierpaolo Piccioli created an androgynous collection for Valentino Fall 2021 inspired by the dichotomy romance and punk. The line was primarily comprised of black and white monochrome looks, with pops of vintage gold and ivory. A wearable assortment of wool capes, baby doll dresses with short hemlines, bomber jackets, and maximalist suits in oversized proportions revealed Piccioli's vision for this coming autumn.
The polarity between edgy and romanticism was a reoccurring theme throughout the collection. Each look was carefully curated to balance both masculine and feminine elements. Piccioli played around with exaggerated collars which spread towards the models shoulders in a series of white button downs and broad shouldered suits. These pieces were paired with lace details or their signature studded pumps. Victorian bib collars in hand-crafted lace decorated the bodice of little black dresses and white blouses, which were styled with punk, combat boots.
Geometric patterns was a key component in Valentino's fall line. In one look, a model wore a coat resembling a human chess board and was paired with a white top and black, knitted sweater vest. Netted tops and dresses repeated a harlequin diamond motif in cutouts concurrent with the punk inspiration, while feminine silhouettes accentuated the models' slender bodies.
For evening, a sheer gowns were embroidered with lace and floral patches. One formal dress was embellished with tiers of black feathers tumbling down to the floor. A sequined, floor length cape was draped around a net top and trousers, bringing regality to an edgy ensemble.
Pierpaolo Piccioli spotlighted the harmony of masculine and feminine in Valentino's fall winter 2021 line. He said this collection is all about finding your own identity and "finding the strength to be who you are."
