Moschino Fall Winter 2021

Inspired by the film, "The Women," creative director, Jeremy Scott, tailored each look of Moschino's fall winter 2021 collection around 36 predetermined, iconic models. With most traditional fashion shows happening virtually, designers are starting to be creative with the way they're presenting their new collections. This season, Jeremy Scott directed a short film with superstars Hailey Bieber, Miranda Kerr, Shalom Harlow, and Dita von Teese. The film opened with three of the models sipping tea from decorative China wearing Old Hollywood style gowns. Classical music played in the background as they floated towards Victorian red velvet seats in front of a stage. The camera zoomed in on Winnie Harlow and Stella Maxwell sitting glamorously and smiling behind a musician playing the harp. It then panned out to the full audience of models in their Moschino looks as the host, Maya Musk, presented this season's Moschino collection. The curtains were drawn and Hailey Baldwin opened the fashion show in a pin-striped skirt set in front of a New York City backdrop. We have now entered Jeremy Scott's theatrical world as models walked one by on down the Broadway inspired runway. 

The first series of looks were patterned suits with exaggerated ties and pops up colors, tailored to the typical urban woman. The collection and the film were meant to showcase women throughout different realms of life. 

As the lights dimmed, Maya Musk announced, "After a long work week, the busy business women are off to the countryside". The stage began to revolve on a platform and a new backdrop revealed fields of grass and a bright blue sky. Miranda Kerr pranced across the stage in a long, prairie dress resembling the scenery with grazing cows on the fields of her skirt. The models wore reimagined peplum dresses and 1950s capes in vintage looking fabrics and hair accessories.

Center stage, Maya Musk sang cheerfully, "The ladies of leisure are now looking for some culture, so off to the museum we go." Three models gazed at a life-size, framed portrait of painted models. They turned towards the audience in peplum suits in primary colors and strutted off camera. The painted models, resembling avatars, were dramatically striking poses in watercolor evening gowns. They sashayed away and Maya Musk made her third declaration. 

"Our cultured ladies are off to the jungles of 5th avenue on a safari. A shopping safari that is!" The camera zoomed into a giraffes head bobbling behind trees on the new jungle set.  Drums were beating to the sound of bird calls while the sun rose and trees parted from the center stage. A model stood dazzling in the giraffe headpiece in a matching strapless dress. Models danced and swayed gracefully in safari attire and dresses resembling jungle animals. Flamingos, zebras, and cheetahs paraded sensationally through the jungle as the curtains closed for a final bow. 

In high glamour evening gowns, Lily Aldridge lead the pack of supermodels down the isle of the theater wearing dresses reflecting the era of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. The show closed with Dita von Teese in a Queen of Hearts, mermaid dress and black, satin gloves dancing across the audience and flashing the camera the heart-shaped, cut out on the back of her dress. 

Moschino's star-studded evening was a spectacular performance showcasing the Golden Age of Hollywood set in the year 2021. Round of applause for Jeremy Scott!
