Zimmermann FW21
Zimmermann Fall Winter 2021
Take me back to the 70s! Creative director, Nicky Zimmermann, reminds us that fashion should be fun! Zimmermann's collection paid tribute to the retro styles of 70s and 80s, inspired by the Australian music show called Countdown. The designers signature floral maxi dresses made a comeback on the runway this season and were a psychedelic spectacle with billowing house of mutton sleeves, mandarin collars, and fringe decorations. A tailored Texas rodeo button down shirt patterned with stars in vibrant colors was paired with flared jeans. Wide legged denim trousers and watercolor pantsuit sets were mixed matched with bohemian tops. Baby doll dresses in golden yellow and dusty rose brought a feeling of youth to the collection, while a starry starry night dress resonated the sophistication of Van Gogh. The show closed with a pastel confetti dress with circular ribbons emulating the paper glitter springing out of the poppers on New Years Eve. Zimmermann was not influenced by the gloominess of the pandemic and created a collection that felt exciting and cheerful, making us dream of the better days to come.
