Thierry Mugler
Iconic French fashion designer, Thierry Mugler, died January 23, 2022 of natural cases at age 73. Mugler lived an inspiring life and helped shaped the fashion industry we know today. He brought sex appeal to the runways with his avant-garde designs and non-traditional models walking his shows. Pornstars, celebrities, transgender women, and models alike graced his shows in feline corsets, sultry silk dresses, and sleek body suits.
His career began in the early 70s, where he created his first collection, "Cafe de Paris". He opened his first boutique in Paris and started to gain recognition amongst the French. His line really took off when he started collaborating with Azzedine Alaia and Claude Montana. After being hired to create signature pieces for Madonna, Diana Ross, David Bowie, amongst many other big name celebs, he gained international success. His fashion shows were artistic and exciting, led by the supermodels, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, and Naomi Campbell. He directed the acclaimed George Michael "Too Funny" video in 1992 and designed for operas, theater shows, events, and concerts. He took the industry by storm until he retired in 2003. When I think of fashion in the 90s, I think of Thierry Mugler.
